The Qiang "Barong"dance,as an important part of the Qiang "Wa Er E Zu"folkloric festival,is also one of the traditional Qiang ritual dance forms. We know that among the many folk dance vocabularies, the Qiang "Barong "dance, with its elegant body language, highlights two qualities of the female body posture, that is,softness and agility. However, this paper proposes that these two qualities of the body language of the Qiang "Barong"dance have been overemphasized by researchers, and that they ignores the metaphorical references to women ’s body postures, remaining only on superficial visual pleasure.First, this paper attempts to uncover the body memory of the Qiang dance through a formal analysis of the visual text of the"Barong"dance. As we know, although the Qiang have a long history, they do not have their own writing system, which means that their cultural inheritance must rely on other more ideographic means. In this sense, song and dance,as the best ideographic medium for the Qiang cultural transmission, play the role of the writing system in the transmission of culture. Therefore,if we want to analyze the Qiang culture in depth,we have to base this analysis on the Qiang language of dance, taking it as one of the key elements to explore Qiang culture. The "Barong"dance is usually led by an elderly woman who can sing and dance, and the old,middle-aged and young participants line up in order, with the first-time participants standing at the end of the line. After the female leader sings, all of the participants sing together, linking arms, clasping their fingers and holding them to their hips to start the dance. During the performance, the participants constantly change the song, body movements, and formation according to the leader’s instructions;the dance formation is usually based on a circle,or,sometimes, the front and rear of the two teams of dancers march along the circle at the same time;body movements usually range from slow to fast, the speed of change also goes from slow to fast, and the dancers show their dance skills
