摘 要:The Sage of Athens was not only known for his learnedness, but most importantly his ability to self-evaluate, acrucial task in acknowledging his own limitation. That limitation helped him to approach all kinds of peopleregardless of their status in life. The Sage of Athens was said to be the wisest man to have lived simply by walkingup to people and talking with them, exchanging ideas, asking questions and having them explain their views. As aresult of this exercise, many felt challenged to follow the example of a life of virtue and courage. Wouldn’t havinga few Sages in our current political atmosphere do us much good?
