摘　　要：《一天的等待》表面短小简单,平铺直叙,在较长的时间里没有受到批评家们的注意,实际上它淋漓尽致地展示了海明威独特的叙事风格,即著名的“冰山原则”。文章仅仅千余字,但是暗示、省略、象征、对比的例子比比皆是。这一短文中两次出现的海盗故事书的朗读情节,对故事的推动作用,从中可以窥见海明威作为语言大师的创作才华的冰山一角。A Day's Wait seems to be short,simple and straightforward,not noticed by critics for a long time,but in fact it vividly demonstrates Hemingway's unique narrative style,which is the famous"Iceberg Principle".The article is only about a thousand words,but examples of hints,omissions,symbols,and contrasts abound.This article will further analyze the plot of the reading of the pirate story book that appears twice in the short essay,and explore the deep meaning the author intends to express.From this we can see the tip of the iceberg of Hemingway's creative talent as a master of language.
