In engineering practice,non-woven geotextiles have been widely used as filters. However, because of the clogging of the non-woven geotextiles, there is a hidden danger of filter layer failure. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out the research on infiltration and clogging of non-woven geotextiles. In order to explore the reasons of clogging, this paper designs different infiltration and clogging tests on non-woven geotextiles of different equivalent apertures with the consideration of clay contents and density degrees of the soil sample. Then it concludes the law of gradient ratio, permeability coefficient and soil content per unit volume of the geotextiles. The results show that the clay contents and density degrees of the soil sample and the equivalent apertures of the geotextiles will affect the infiltration and clogging characteristic of the geotextiles. When the clay content of the soil sample is low and the equivalent aperture of the geotextiles is big,the clogging is likely to occur inside of them;when the clay content of the soil sample is high and the equivalent aperture of the geotextiles is small, the clogging is easy to occur on the surface of them.
