Three common Zoysia japonicas were taken as the study objects:Japanese zoysia"Meyer",Zoysia matrella and Zoysia japonica var.pallida cv Jiaodong. The possible cold response mechanisms of were analyzed by measuring their physiological indexes and comparing their physiological regulation differences under low-temperature stress. The results indicated that for the three kinds of Zoysia japonicas, the leaf relative electrical conductivities and MDA contents increased under the low-temperature stress of 4℃,the relative water contents decreased, and the concentrations of proline and soluble sugar went up.Compared with the germplasm of the Japanese Zoysia japonica, under 72-h low-temperature stress,"Meyer"had thelargest increase in the leaf relative electrical conductivity and MDA contents, the biggest drop in the relative water content and the highest concentrations of proline and soluble sugar. It could be found out that the decrease in water-holding capacity of the leaf tissue and membrane damage are main factors affecting the Zoysia japonica's sensitive to low temperature stress.
