摘　　要：史蒂文·特雷西对美国非裔音乐、理查德·赖特、拉尔夫·埃利森以及詹姆斯·鲍德温表现出浓厚的学术兴趣。本文对特雷西教授毕生的文学批评进行了全面考察,涵盖其从关于兰斯顿·休斯、拉尔夫·埃利森、詹姆斯·鲍德温等艺术家的个案研究到关于美国非裔文学的宏观研究等不同方面。本文通过不同参数分析,认为特雷西堪称文学通才,他的研究涉及人类学、民间传说、历史、语言学、表演研究和妇女研究。本文认为特雷西同时也是世界一流的布鲁斯演奏家,并分析了他的音乐实践对其文学批评的融入与渗透。This paper offers a survey of the critical career of Steven C.Tracy,whose works demonstrate a specific interest in African American music,Richard Wright,Ralph Ellison,and James Baldwin.Surveying the parameters of different parts of Tracy’s career,from single artist studies of Langston Hughes and Ralph Ellison to the broadest study of the workings of African American Literature yet written,Tracy considers himself a generalist in literature whose work is touched by anthropology,folklore,history,linguistics,performance studies,and Women’s Studies.Identifying Tracy as a world class blues performer,this paper demonstrates how Tracy’s musical practices inform his criticism.
