Teaching supervision and evaluation have become a regular system of evaluating teaching in colleges and universities, but most of them only play the role of supervision and management of teachers, and do not fully play the role of improving teachers’teaching ability. The key to develop the real role of teaching supervision and evaluation is to improve the efficiency of teaching evaluation. In recent years, through the promotion of“teaching square”method, the center for teaching support&Innovation(CTSI)of the University of Toronto carries out structural and systematic peer evaluation of teaching, which is widely welcomed by teachers and improves the teaching level of teachers. This paper expounds the idea, operation practice and achievements of this method, and analyzes its enlightenment to universities in China to carry out peer teachers’evaluation,in order to provide reference for universities in China to formulate relevant teaching evaluation policies.
