摘  要:The most significant events since the Cenozoic were the cooling of global climate and decreasing CO_(2)concentrations in the atmo-sphere[1].The link of these events has often been attributed tothe removal of co,by increased uplift anderosion of plateau/mountains,and thus consequent increases in silicate weathering[2]and organic carbon burial[3].通过西太平洋海底富钴铁-锰结壳中宇宙成因核素10Be和稳定同位素9Be的高分辨分析,本研究利用初始10Be/9Be比值作为大陆风化速率的示踪指标,探讨长期以来存在争议的科学问题:晚新生代以来大陆风化速率是否发生过明显的变化.结果表明:风化速率在5 Ma以来存在显著变化,4.52.7 Ma期间强,而2.71.2 Ma期间弱;上述转变与全球气候从上新世暖湿气候向第四纪冷干气候演化相一致.因此,我们认为上新世以来全球气候变化可能是长时间尺度大陆风化的主要驱动力.
