摘　　要：本文记述了2017年夏季参加有关图书馆知识管理和中文出版方面的国际会议和一系列交流活动,特别是北京、太原等地文化之旅的概况和观感。内容包括历史悠久的五台山佛教朝圣文化、故宫的宫廷艺术的继承与创新﹑越办越火的北京国际图书博览会、商务印书馆与现代中国文化的兴起﹐以及《图书馆报》访谈等。并结合在美国东亚图书馆的理念和实践,总结了图书馆人对于跨文明交流方面的贡献及意义。The author of this article describes his trip to China in the summer of 2017.During his journey he attended a conference on digital publishing and digital libraries in Taiyuan,revisited Mt.Wutai and its Buddhist temples,joined a tour of the Forbidden City in Beijing,participated in the 2017 Beijing International Book Fair,delivered a speech regarding his father's academic accomplishments at a symposium organized by the Commercial Press,and gave an interview to the China Library Weekly.The account is lively,informative,and interwoven with thoughtful ideas.
