The minimalist garden, represented by Peter Walker,is good at focusing on the matter itself without unnecessary embellishments or new meanings, and then exposing it to the public more naked. This kind of artistic style of exploring the essence of landscape architecture, allowing viewers to directly participate in the dialogue with landscape elements,is a new creation and breakthrough. At the same time, minimalist garden works are also lacking in terms of landscape integration, diversity and long-term appreciation. As a garden,it has not reached the requirement of pursuing ecological balance and sustainable development advocated globally in recent years.Taking the works of Peter Walker as examples, this paper discusses the characteristics of minimalist gardens and raises some thoughts on the construction of Chinese gardens in the future.
