On Rewi Alley’s Translation of Chinese Poetry into English Based on Translator’s Habitus

摘　　要：聚焦路易·艾黎的中国诗歌英译活动,以译者惯习为理论依据,对艾黎的诗歌翻译活动、策略及其翻译观等进行探究。艾黎在经历战事、参加革命、投身建设、介绍中国的过程中形成自身特有的惯习,正是这些惯习促使他选择翻译中国诗歌时坚持以目标读者为导向,向世界介绍中国和中国文化,反映出他无私、博爱、跨国的国际主义精神。This paper focuses on Rewi Alley’s translation of Chinese poetry into English,and tries to discuss his translation practice of Chinese poems,the translation strategies and his thoughts on translation based on the translator’s habitus.It’s found that Alley has formed his own habitus through the war and revolution as well as through social construction and introducing China globally.It is the habitus that enabled him to adhere to translation strategies centered on target readers in translating Chinese poetry.Alley holds that the aim of translation is to introduce China and Chinese culture to the world,which is reflected in his own translation theory integrated with the selflessness and humanitarian internationalist spirit.
