摘　　要：胡适不仅保存和整理了父亲胡传的遗稿,还因父子皆有缘台湾,在回忆家世时,刻意向世人展现乃翁乙未年台湾陷落时“第一个牺牲者”“殉难者”的历史形象。胡适对父亲的溢美之词很大程度上影响了人们对胡传的评判。其实,无须“父以子贵”,胡传原本就是一位有胆识魄力和实干精神的地方州县官员;台北胡适纪念馆所存胡传档案对于研究胡传仕宦经历、政治作为和清季地方基层治理、边防建设等问题具有至关重要的学术意义。Hu Shi(胡适)not only preserved and sorted out the last manuscript of his father Hu Chuan(胡传),but also,because both father and son were destined for Taiwan,when recalling his family history,revealed with conscious effort his father’s historical image as“the first who sacrificed his life”or“the martyr”when Taiwan was seized by Japan as a colony in 1895.Hu Shi’s praise of his father greatly influenced people’s judgment of Hu Chuan.As a matter of fact,however,there is no need for“the father’s honor increasing as his son’s position rises.”Hu Chuan himself was a courageous,insightful and enterprising magistrate and prefecturor.Hu Chuan’s archives in Taipei Hu Shih Memorial Hall are of great academic significance for studying Hu Chuan’s official experience,political accomplishments,as well as the local governance and border defense construction in the end of the Qing Dynasty.
