摘　　要：In A.S. Byatt’s Possession, Christabel LaMotte is an independent new woman who has a genius for poetry. In this patriarchal society, LaMotte has to make great sacrifice for her cause and her feminist faith, including giving up the most beloved ones in her life. From a feminist viewpoint, LaMotte on the surface is an untraditional literary woman and a feminist fighter. Yet, she lives in great pain and agony all through her life and a martyr of her feminist faith.
