摘　　要：Herman Melville’s early story Redburn:His First Voyage is the only one written from the point of view of a child,using a child’s first-person narration.The thesis aims to study the functions of point of view from the perspective of narratology,namely,the point of view of the child,and will draw its conclusion that the child has a unique and significant perspective in Melville’s early works.
