Nitrile rubber(NBR)was physically modified by polyacrylamide(PAM),sulfur and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid disodium(EDTA-2Na).Modified NBR with different properties were prepared by adjusting the contents of three additives. The vulcanization properties, mechanical properties and water swelling properties of the modified NBR were studied. The results showed that the mechanical properties of NBR decreased with the increase of PAM content, but the vulcanization and water swelling properties increased slightly. With the increase of sulfur content, the tensile strength was increased but the elongation at break was decreased, and other properties were improved in a small range. However, the addition of EDTA-2Na can effectively improve water swelling performance of NBR,but lead to poor mechanical properties. At the same time, the modified NBR has a higher water swelling rate in the lower salinity and higher temperature environment.
