摘 要:《论自由决断》通常被看做奥古斯丁早期思想发展的哲学基础,但现代学界对之的解释却大相径庭。依据奥古斯丁晚年的回顾和反思,本文试图表明,这部作品的前后3卷在论证上是内在统一的,都旨在论证人类意志的堕落下降,并不存在着从“早期”到“晚期”、从“乐观”到“悲观”的两个奥古斯丁;不过,奥古斯丁的早期思想的确发生过重大变革,集中体现在其解释《罗马书》的作品中。De libero arbitrio is usually regarded as the philosophical foundation of Augustine’s early thoughts.However modern scholars such as Peter Brown and Carol Harrison made rather different interpretations.Relying on Augustine’s later reflection this article attempts to show that the argument in this 3-volume work is inherently consistent and persuasive and his work is to elaborate on how the human will initiated its fall and descent.Thus my thesis is that there are not two Augustines,either the so called from early to later orfrom optimistic to pessimistic.Nevertheless Au-gustine’s early thoughts had indeed undergone a dramatic reformation espe-cially embodied in his exegeses of Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans.
