In early modern England, people were more concerned with news than all the previous ages.As an original form of British newspapers and journals, handwritten newsletters and pamphlets with the ancient form of the oral spread of news, played a very important role in the spreading of contemporary business and trade information, political issues and other important events. The early modern British journalists and newsletter writers also expressed their political views and criticized their dissidents, even without the exception of the royal family. In this fierce“paper battle”,newsletters and pamphlets were widely circulated so that English soon became the national language. At the same time, newsletters and pamphlets gradually developed into the“public sphere”that influenced the popular political views at the end of the 17th century, which prompted the existence and development of the British national community consciousness.
