摘 要:通过对比中外学者纺织科学英语期刊论文标题,研究中国学者论文标题中心名词的型式及其人际功能构建特征。研究发现,中国学者趋向于使用Construction,Fragrance,Study和Effect四组中心名词的型式,其中Fragrance和Study组型式的使用与英语学者有显著差异。这些中心名词的型式旨在凸显研究过程或手段,聚焦研究对象的性能,重申论文的学术性以及宣传研究的影响或效果,从而构建起作者在纺织科学领域的学术身份。这一研究对学术英语写作教学及中国学者国际期刊论文发表都有一定的启示作用。This paper focuses on patterns of head nouns in Chinese scholars’paper titles published in English textile journals and the construction of interpersonal function in comparison with those of foreign scholars writing.The study shows that Chinese scholars prefer four groups of head noun patterns,namely,Construction,Fragrance,Study and Effect,among which the Fragrance and Study groups are significantly different from the patterns in foreign scholars’paper.Furthermore,the head noun patterns were found to highlight research process or method,spotlight properties of research objects,reiterate the academic nature and to emphasize the effect of research,facilitating identity of Chinese scholars in the circle of Textile Science.This research explores the unique features of the head nouns in paper titles written by Chinese scholars,seeking an enlightenment in teaching English academic writing as well as the publishing in English journals.
