司马文森与英国翻译家约瑟夫·卡尔玛的交往及其影响

摘　　要：1947年8月,司马文森将自己与英国翻译家约瑟夫·卡尔玛的四封通信以《七月书简》为名,发表于《文艺生活》光复版第16期上。司马文森对卡尔玛的中国现代文学翻译工作提供了作品选择和原作输出上的帮助,这些现代文学作品对卡尔玛及其他翻译者的中国现代文学翻译事业产生了不小的助力。司马文森和卡尔玛就现代文学作品外译的选择标准、毛泽东《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》在国内外的反响,做了深层次的交流,这对中国现代文学和文学方向的对外传播,使西方世界加强对中国的了解和理解,起到了巨大的作用。《七月书简》发表于在海外广泛发行的《文艺生活》上,使得这次中西文学交流产生了多倍辐射效应。In August 1947,Sima Wensen published four correspondences between himself and the British translator Joseph Kalmer under the name of July Letters,and published them in the 16 th issue of the Liberation Edition of Literary Life.Sima Wensen provided Kalmer’s translation of modern Chinese literature with help in the selection of works and the output of original works.These modern literary works have greatly assisted Kalmer and other translators in the translation of modern Chinese literature.Sima Wensen and Kalmer conducted in-depth exchanges on the selection criteria for the foreign translation of modern literary works and Mao Zedong’s Speech at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art at home and abroad.Communication has played a huge role in enhancing the understanding of China in the western world.The July Letters was published in Literary Life,which was widely distributed overseas,which produced multiple radiation effects in this exchange of Chinese and Western literature.
