The evaluation of representative works is an interdisciplinary field facing social reality, involving higher education, library and information science, scientific research and management and other research topics.Under the cognition of library and information science, the evaluation of representative works is the evaluation of representative academic achievements in a narrow sense. Its concept connotation naturally contains the core elements of library and information science——knowledge and literature, optimization and evaluation. From the perspective of library and information science,we can see the contribution of library and information science to the selection and evaluation of representative works. At present, the new information technology environment and academic exchange mode are making the existing forms and evaluation needs of academic achievements increasingly complex and diversified.Traditional bibliometric methods are facing new challenges and opportunities.Knowledge unit extraction and innovative evaluation will become a new perspective of library and information science for representative work evaluation, exploring the innovation and contribution of the content of representative works knowledge system from knowledge management research.
