摘　　要：马拉默德在一系列短篇小说中表达了对美国犹太移民和人类整体生存困境的关注,以及对摆脱困境实现救赎的途径的思考。本文通过对马拉默德多篇短篇小说的生存困境与救赎途径这一主题的解读与分析,指出他的短篇小说侧重犹太移民贫困物质生活中的忍耐坚守,探讨他们精神困境中对梦想的追寻,并从人类整体生存境遇的角度出发对不同民族交往中的相互救赎进行反思。此外,马拉默德短篇小说中的人物对生活和未来始终充满乐观和信心。In his short fiction Malamud expresses his concern for the survival dilemma of the Jewish Americans and the human beings as a whole.He also shows consideration for the ways of getting out of the dilemma to achieve salvation.This paper intends to explain the theme of the survival dilemma and the ways to achieve salvation in Malamud’s short fiction.It argues that his short fiction focuses on the endurance and persistence of the Jewish immigrants in poverty,discusses their pursuit of dreams in spiritual predicament,and reflects on the mutual salvation of different races from the perspective of living condition of human beings.Furthermore,the characters in his short fiction always have an optimistic attitude and a strong belief in life and in the future.
