摘  要:1911年5月,张元济、高凤谦等人收购的《时事报》改组为《时事新报》,并委任汪诒年为报馆经理。创办者抱有浓厚之政治关怀,尝试做到立场中立,欲为"政客"提供以政见组成政党的舆论空间,为立宪时代的政党政治做好准备。时事报馆开办之初即向社会征文,设问八题颇具巧思,且深浅不一,成功吸引各方读者的关注。征文栏目既刊登正反两面之言论,又借机引导舆论,在日趋激进、党同伐异的报界颇具特点。关于征文的投稿、互动、发表与评审,可以窥见中下层读书人的政见取向以及办报者的政治旨趣,反映辛亥革命前夜舆论环境的复杂性。In May 1911,Zhang Yuanji,Gao Mengdan and others bought out The Newsletter and changed it into The New Newsletter,with Wang Yinian being made the manager of this agency.The newspaper runners had profound political concern and tried to maintain a consistently stance,so that preparing for party politics in the constitutional era,they could provide politicians with an arena of public opinion,with which advocates would take side.At the very beginning of its establishment,the news agency held an open essay competition,in which eight ingenious questions,simple or complex,were put forward,and the whole community of readers was immediately attracted to them.With remarks of both sides published,the newspaper men actually very adeptly guide the public opinion,as was very unique in the time of fierce partisan opinion attacks.The essay competition mirrored not only the political concerns of the middle and lower class readers,but also the interaction between the newspaper runners and the readers,thus being helpful in understanding the social milieu on the eve of the Revolution of 1911.
