摘　　要：哈佛大学是美国二战后区域研究发展最为典型的大学之一,其中东亚研究中心在费正清教授领导下,对东亚地区的中国、日本、朝鲜开展了有规划的、跨学科的学术研究与人才培养,美国对东亚的认知进入了系统性知识生产与再生产阶段。自1960年费正清访问越南伊始,东亚中心开始筹划越南研究,从研究经费、资料建设和人才培养方面做了有意义的探索,到20世纪70年代中期,哈佛东亚中心越南研究在讲席教授设置、课程建设和越南典籍收藏方面均取得较大进展。哈佛越南研究的兴起得益于美国逐渐卷入越南局势对美国知识界的冲击反思、东亚中心自身研究拓展以及美国基金会的支持等多种因素。Harvard University has been well-known as one of the best research base for the area and international studies since the World War II.Under the leadership of Prof.John King Fairbank,the East Asian Research Center(EARC)set up a completed and trans-disciplined research and student training program referring to the modern China,Korea,Japan studies,the perception of East Asia in the United States has entered a period of systematic knowledge production and re-production.Prof.Fairbank visited Vietnam in 1960,and began to extend the Vietnam studies in fund raising,source collection and student training.During the 1970s,the EARC has achieved a lot in the creation of a professorship chair,a series of courses construction and plentiful research sources in the Vietnam Studies.The rise of the Vietnam Studies at the EARC was due to many factors,including the intellectual rethinking after more and more American intervention into Vietnam,the EARC’s research interest and the Ford Foundations’enormous support.
