A New argument for the source of Liquid Styrax Medication(sū hé xiāng wán)

摘　　要：出自宋代的苏合香丸,其方源历来均据《外台秘要方》而上溯至唐代开元年间《广济方》的“吃力迦丸”,并知“吃力迦”是“白术”的西域梵文名。而俄藏敦煌文书中有编号ДX.09178R的“鬼疰心痛方”,经专家考证其出土于吐鲁番交河故城,故当为吐鲁番文书,抄写于高昌国时期(460—640),再据敦煌吐鲁番文书的“疗鬼疰方”“治一切疰方”及《外台秘要》的“鬼疰心腹痛方”,恢复其组成,与“苏合香丸”组成、主治基本一致,当为其方源。Based on The Arcane Essentials from the Imperial Library(Wài tái mì yào),Liquid Styrax medication(sū hé xiāng wán),popular in the Song Dynasty,could trace its history back to Atracylodes medication(chī lì gā wán)in The Formulas of Broad Benefit(Guǎng jì fāng)in the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty."Chī lì gā"is the Sanskrit pronunciation of ovate atractylodes(Atractylodis macrocephalae Rhizoma).The Dunhuang manuscript ДX.09178R collected by Russia contained a formula called"The Formula to Treat Angina Caused by Demonic Possession(gǔi zhùxīn tòng fāng)".The manuscript was excavated in Yarkhoto(Jiaohe)and identified as the Turfan manuscript.This manuscript was transcribed in the Gaochang Kingdom(460-640).Based on"The Formula to Treat Demonic Possession(liáo gǔi zhù fāng)","The Formula to Treat All Kinds of Epidemic Possession(zhìyīqìe gǔi zhùfāng)"in the Dunhuang-Turfan manuscripts and"The Formula to Treat Angina and Abdominal Pain Caused by Demonic Possession(gǔi zhù xīn fù tòng fāng)"in The Arcane Essentials from the Imperial Library,this paper examined the composition of"The Formula to Treat Angina Caused by Demonic Possession"in the manuscript ДX.09178R and found that this formula is the source of Liquid Styrax medication since the composition and main indications of the two are basically the same.
