“公办民助”:国立东南大学教育思想的首创及影响

摘　　要：国立东南大学成为20世纪20年代南方学术重镇,与郭秉文等人提出并践行“公办民助”思想具有极大的关联性。民国初期特定的政治经济环境、办学者的思想认识以及北洋政府的制度倡导,促进了“公办民助”思想的生成,其在大学筹建、董事会治校、社会服务、兴建设施等方面的有效运用,推动了国立东南大学的迅速崛起。“公办民助”思想的生成及运用,是近代中国国立大学的首创之举,在高等教育史上具有深远的价值影响。回溯百年名校筚路蓝缕的发展历程和坚忍执着的开创精神,对于当代中国大学走开放、创新的办学之路,仍然具有学习和借鉴意义。President Guo Bingwen and his colleagues were credited with helping make National Southeast University a highly prestigious university in the South in the 1920s.They were renowned for their view of school management:a public university funded by the government and private sponsors.This idea,developed in the early Republic of China,contributed to the rise of the University after it was materialized in its founding,governance of the board of trustees,social services,and infrastructure.The enduring legacy of this pioneering effort includes:intangibly,this idea as the first attempt of its kind in modern China has a far-reaching influence in the history of higher education;tangibly,the unique blend of eastern and western influences in the classical buildings on campus prepared physical infrastructure for the present Southeast.
