Historically, the exchanges between Japan and Nanyang(otherwise known as Southeast Asia)were realized through maritime transportation and trade,in which so-called"the maritime traders in sengoku"and"the embedded chonin"played important roles.Based on related historical materials on the theme of the Warring States Period as well as economic and trade relations in Nanyang,a series of historical novels written by the Japanese literati took"the maritime traders in sengoku"or"the embedded chonin"as protagonists to reproduce and review the related historical scenes. As active merchant groups on trade routes in the East China Sea and the South China Sea,"the maritime traders in sengoku"and"the embeddeld chonin"played a special role in the development of the relations between Japan and the Southeast Asia. Moreover, the novels described the predatory trading by pirate merchants and"the embedded chonin"as well as the resultant boom in the Nihonjin-machi in Nanyang to present the commercial and cultural exchanges between Japan and Nanyang during the Warring States Period of Japan, and to imply the prosperity of East Asia-Southeast Asia Maritime Silk Road in history.
