摘　　要：程早霞《美国传统主流媒体与中国西藏》通过对《纽约时报》《华盛顿邮报》《洛杉矶时报》《芝加哥论坛报》等美国传统主流媒体涉藏报道的系统分析,考察和剖析了辛亥革命前后、第二次世界大战前后、中华人民共和国成立前后、西藏和平解放前后、达赖叛逃前后以及冷战结束前后等重要历史时期,美国传统主流媒体和政府在“西藏问题”上态度和政策的变化,并借此阐明了美国媒体并不是独立于美国政府的第三方监督机构,而是美国政府制造国内外舆论的代言工具。The American Traditional Mainstream Media and Tibet by Cheng Zaoxia makes a systematic analysis of Tibet-related reports in American traditional mainstream media,such as The New York Times,The Washington Pos t,Los Angeles Times,and Chicago Tribune.The book examines the changes in attitudes and policies of the American traditional mainstream media and the government on the“Tibet issue”during important historical periods(around the revolution of 1911,World WarⅡ,the founding of the Teople’s Republic of China,the peaceful liberation of Tibet,the defection of the Dalai Lama,and the end of the Cold War)to prove that the American media is not an impartial third party independent of the U.S.government,but a spokesman for it in creating public opinion at home and abroad.
