阶层跨越、种族平等与国家正义的诉求:欧茨小说的政治伦理观照

摘　　要：作为公共知识分子,欧茨的作品一直关注阶级、种族和权力等社会政治问题。受外在社会文化环境、内在的生命哲学思想以及自身族裔背景的影响,欧茨形成了公共知识分子的批判立场。通过对底层民众渴望实现阶层跨越、少数族裔渴望实现种族平等和普通民众渴望公平正义等社会问题的关注,欧茨揭开了美国民主的虚伪面纱,将美国日益凸显的阶层固化问题、从未消失的种族歧视问题和普遍存在的权力腐败问题公之于众。欧茨以文学话语承担知识分子的责任,唤醒公众意识,引发人们对政治伦理问题及其背后隐藏的深层次原因做严肃而深入的思考。As a public intellectual, Oates’ s work has always been concerned with the socio-political issues such as class, race and power. Influenced by the external social and cultural environment, the philosophy of inner life and her own ethnic background, Oates has formed a critical position as a public intellectual. With the concern of social issues such as the desire of class transcending for the people in low class, the desire for achieving racial equality for the minority, and the fairness and justice for the ordinary people, Oates has lifted the hypocritical veil of American democracy, exposed America’s growing problems of the class consolidation, the persistent racial discrimination and the pervasive power corruption. Oates has undertaken the responsibility of intellectuals with literary discourse, aroused the public consciousness, and led people to think seriously and deeply about the underlying causes of political ethical problems.
