附加疑问句英译研究——以《半生缘》金凯筠译本为例

摘　　要：附加疑问句在英语中被广泛运用,发挥着各种语用功能,但学界对附加疑问句的翻译研究还很少见。本文以《半生缘》金凯筠译本的附加疑问句为研究对象,发现既有再现原文的,也有从非附加疑问句转换而来的附加疑问句,其中表示寻求确认的附加疑问句数量最多,另外还有表达态度、表示强调、缓和语气等功能的附加疑问句,但表示其他功能的大部分也具有确认型倾向。《半生缘》英译本的大部分附加疑问句切合具体语境与人物身份,在人物话语和心理活动中使用附加疑问句有利于塑造人物形象,充分体现了译者的忠实性与灵活性。Tag questions are widely and habitually used in English to serve a variety of pragmatic functions.However,there has been little academic research on the translation of tag questions.This paper explores the tag questions in Karen S.Kingsbury's translation of Ban Sheng Yuan and finds that some of the tag questions are reproduced from the source text and some of them are transformed from non-tag questions,and furthermore,most of them reveal the function of asking for confirmation.In addition,some tag questions express speaker attitude,give an emphasis,soften the tone and perform other functions but most of them are more or less confirmatory.Most of the tag questions in the English translation of Ban Sheng Yuan accord with specific contexts and the identities of the characters,and the use of tag questions in a characters discourse as well as mental activities is conducive to characterization,thus reflecting the translators fidelity and flexibility.
