摘　　要：如何理解、认识和反思中国第一代建筑师的成就和贡献,既是一个历史问题也是一个现实问题。杨廷宝,作为现代意义上建筑职业和建筑实践在中国的奠基者与代表人物及卓越的建筑教育家,其意义不仅在于优秀的作品,而且在于他对建筑职业和专业在现代中国形塑过程中所产生的深远影响。以建筑作为一种职业实践的知识为切入点,以现代意识和民众社会在中国的兴起为背景,从立场、观念、类型、路径等方面对杨廷宝的思想和实践特点进行解读,并以此为基础,通过与20世纪早期功能主义的比较,重新思考这种知识的特点,及现当代中国建筑研究中的一些理论与历史问题。How to understand and recognize the achievements and contribution of the first generation Chinese architect is both a historical and realistic question.As one of the founders and representatives of architectural profession and architectural practice in its modern sense in China and an extraordinary architectural educator,Yang Tingbao marks his significance not only due to his high-quality works,but also to his profound influence on the formation of architectu re as a professional knowledge in China.From the viewpoint of architecture as the knowledge of professional practice,this paper takes the rise of modern consciousness and civic society as background and ma kes an interpretation of the position,idea,type and approach of Yang’s thoughts and practice.On this basis,it tries to rethink the characteristics of modern Chinese architecture and certain theoretical and historical questions in comparison to factionalism of the early 20th century.
