Can Financial Literacy Improve the Consumption Structure of Rural Households?——Based on the Analysis of Mediating Effect of the Rural Social Endowment Insurance Participation Behavior

摘  要:本文使用西财家庭金融调查(CHFS)2015年数据,用因子分析法构建金融素养指标,利用Probit、Tobit、OLS、中介效应模型和工具变量法研究农户的金融素养对其农村社会养老保险参与行为的影响,以及参保行为在金融素养影响农村家庭消费结构路径关系中的中介效应。研究发现,金融素养对改善家庭消费结构有显著正向作用。金融素养越高的农户越有可能制定养老计划、参与社会养老保险并提高参保程度,进而提升发展性消费在家庭总消费中的占比、改善消费结构;参保意愿和参与程度均在此路径中起到了显著的中介作用。Based on the China Household Finance Survey data in 2015,this paper constructs the financial literacy indicator in the method of the factor analysis,and uses the Probit,Tobit,OLS,mediation model,and instrumental variables to study the effect that the financial literacy has on the rural social endowment insurance participation behavior of rural households,as well as the mediating effect the insurance participation behavior has between the financial literacy and consumption structure of the rural households.The study finds that financial literacy has a significant positive effect on improving the rural household consumption structure.Rural residents with higher financial literacy are more likely to develop pension plans,participate in rural social endowment insurance and increase insurance premium payment levels,thereby increasing the proportion of developmental consumption in total household consumption and improving the consumption structure.Both the willingness to participate and the insurance premium payments play significant intermediary roles in this path.
