Pathologic synovitis and pannus formed in the course of rheumatoid arthritis disease mainly cause pain, swelling, stiffness and other symptoms of the patient's joints in the early stage. But in the later stage of the disease, the destruction of articular cartilage and bone caused by erosive inflammation may lead to joint deformity and loss of function.Ca^(2+)not only plays a crucial role in bone formation, but also participates in bone destruction in the later stages of rheumatoid arthritis.Numerous scientific studies have found that Ca^(2+)is closely related to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis, and may act as an important medium in the occurrence and development of rheumatoid arthritis. This paper explores the different roles of Ca^(2+)in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis from the perspective of Ca^(2+)and bone metabolism, calcium binding protein and Ca^(2+)homeostasis,and seeks for more new strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and the relationship between the two was confirmed by the related research of Chinese medicine on regulating Ca^(2+)to alleviate rheumatoid arthritis.
