摘　　要：本文通过收集淘宝和eBay网站的钱币类、书画(油画)类和教育书籍类数据,从起始价格怎样影响所拍物品的成交概率和成交价格的角度实证研究了起始价格在英式网上拍卖中的作用。研究结论表明,无论是淘宝网站还是eBay网站,卖家设置的起始价格都显著降低了物品的成交概率,但同时也显著增加了物品的成交价格。进一步,基于实证结果,本文还分析了英式网上拍卖中卖方关于起始价格的最优设置问题。Using the data from the coin,painting&calligraphy(drawing),and education book categories collected from Taobao and eBay websites,the paper empirically investigates the role of starting price in English online auctions from the perspective of the impacts of starting price on both the transaction probability and the final price of goods.The results suggest that,whether on Taobao or eBay,the starting prices set by seller will significantly reduce the transaction probability of goods,while also enhance the item’s transaction prices evidently.Furthermore,based on the obtained empirical results,the article also gives an analysis of the optimal setting of starting price in English online auctions.
