Limited by river sand resources,in order to find out the possibility and extent of replacing river sand with sea sand,4 substitution rates of 2%,5%,10%and 20%were adopted. The physical and mechanical properties of mixed mortar after sea sand partially replacing river sand were studied by using chloride ion content and shell content as test parameters. The results showed that the mixing mortar has lower density, lower fluidity, higher stratification and shorter setting time. After mixing with sea sand, chloride ions were helpful to the early strength of mixed mortar. When the replacement rate of sea sand is 20%,the effect of chloride ion on early strength enhancement of mortar is most obvious. The shell has adverse effects on the compressive and flexural strength of the mixed mortar, and the more obvious the adverse effects are with the increase of the replacement rate of the sea sand. The optimum replacement rate of the sea sand is 10%,and the performance indexes are not different from the ordinary cement mortar, which meets the construction engineering standards.
