晚清桐城派古文创作的现代转型——以赵衡《叙异斋文集》为例

摘  要:晚清桐城派诸家面对国家多难,传统学术在西学冲击下不断新变的文化格局,程朱理学笼罩下的经世思想,让位于格于中西学术、继承斯文道统的文化忧患。吴汝纶、贺涛等古文家强调古文要融会西学,阐说新理,实现古文的现代转型。赵衡作为桐城派后劲,在其史论文、女性书写和文学思想的表述中展现出以西方现代物质文明和政治伦理思想反思中华文明的自觉,促进了新思想的传播,冲击了顽固守旧思想的壁垒。但他们既抱着自强复兴的理想化合中西,又抱着守先待后的文化孤怀传承道统斯文。使他们古文创作的现代转型陷入了文人精英意识和娱情自适的诗意世界,丧失了启发民智,推动文化革新和社会改革的文坛主导权力。Amid the national disasters and the challenges posed by Western learning on Chinese traditional learning,the writers of Tongcheng School in the late Qing Dynasty no longer emphasized the expression of the thought of governing the world under the cover of Neo Confucianism,but expressed the cultural anxiety of fusing Chinese and Western cultures to inherit the Confucian orthodoxy.Wu Rulun,He Tao and other ancient writers emphasized that the creation of ancient prose should expound new theories and realize the modern transformation of ancient prose.In his historical papers,female writing and literary thoughts,Zhao Heng shows his consciousness of reflecting on Chinese civilization with western modern thoughts.It promotes the spread of new ideas and impacts the barriers of obstinate and conservative ideas.They combine China and the West with the ideal of self-improvement and rejuvenation,and inherit the traditional culture with the spirit of waiting for the future.It makes the modern transformation of ancient prose fall into the poetic world of literati elite consciousness and self-adaptive entertainment,and lose the leading power in the literary world to inspire people's wisdom and promote cultural innovation and social reform.
