摘　　要：巴特勒是美国著名的图书馆学家。文章基于巴特勒在纽伯里图书馆期间的摇篮本采访与书目实践工作,梳理其关于摇篮本的采选政策、馆藏建设和目录编纂成果,总结其在印刷史领域的学术思路,反映其从文化史领域研究印刷的起源、书籍的传播、新学科领域的发展及其对社会的影响的志向和旨趣。Butler is a famous American librarian. Based on Butler’s work in incunabula selecting and bibliographic practice during his time at the Newberry Library, the article reviews his selection policies, collection development,and achievements in cataloging in the field of incunabula. It also summarizes Butler’s academic thought in printing history,which is placed in the context of social civilization,forming a cultural history-based inquiry into the origins of printing,the dissemination of books,the development of new disciplines,and their social impact.
