In order to ensure the balance between water saving planning and water demand,it is necessary to make dynamic analysis of water demand with comprehensive consideration of urban characteristics.Based on the relevant urban construction planning content of Changzhou and the analysis of its water saving potential and social and economic indicators, the background conditions and quota of water demand prediction are defined. The classification index method and classification of land use index method are used to analyze the urban water demand, and the rationality of the corresponding water saving planning and water demand structure was demonstrated.According to the research, the forecast results demonstrate that in the near term(2035)and long term(2050)planning years, the agricultural and rural water consumption in Changzhou will decrease year by year, while the industrial and urban water consumption will increase year by year, which is consistent with the development trend of urban planning and construction. The selection of various quotas in the analysis of water demand can provide references for the related planning analysis of typical small and medium sized cities in Jiangsu Province.
