摘　　要：文章运用视觉文化理论对小说《午夜之子》中西方殖民者的视觉规训和印度人民的反抗进行了分析,揭示了殖民者妄想从生理视觉和机械凝视两个层面来控制印度的帝国主义意识形态。同时,也挖掘出印度人民以本土文化为壁垒,利用视觉游戏和意义解构来进行巧妙反抗的民族智慧。Based on the theory of visual culture,the paper analyzes the visual discipline of the Western colonists and the resistance of the Indian people in the novel Midnight’s Children,revealing the imperialist ideology of the colonizers who tried in vain to dominate the Indian people from the two levels of physiological vision and mechanical gaze.At the same time,it also unearths the wisdom of the Indian people engaged in a smart resistance through visual games and deconstruction of meaning with their indigenous culture as a barrier.
