Innovative talents have gradually become a new driving force for promoting regional innovation and high-quality economic development.Based on the data from 2000 to 2019 in the Yangtze River Delta, this paper applied the improved Cobb-Douglas(C-D)production function to establish the function model of physical capital, labor capital and innovative human capital and economic growth, estimated the output elasticity of various production factors through the regression model and analyzed the contribution rate of innovation-oriented human capital to economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta empirically. The results show that innovative human capital has a positive driving effect on economic development in the Yangtze River Delta from 2001 to 2019,but the average annual contribution rate is 47.44%,which is lower than that of material capital stock(58.34%),and the contribution rate fluctuates in a“W”shape. There are regional differences in the contribution rate of innovative human capital in the Yangtze River Delta. The contribution rate of innovative human capital in Shanghai is higher than that in other three provinces, followed by Anhui province,Zhejiang province and Jiangsu province.
