The Spread and Cultural Integration of Byzantine Monetary Culture along the Silk Road:A Case Study on Gold Coins of Heraclius Ⅰ

摘  要:伊拉克略一世的金币索里得及以其为原型制作的金币和金片出现在中国、蒙古和中亚等地,说明这种类型的金币曾在这些地区广泛传播并被大量复制。此类金币的东传是由于622年伊拉克略一世为远征波斯而以大笔金币作为条件换取西突厥汗国对波斯的夹击。当这种一大一小两胸像的伊拉克略一世金币传入东方后,在被仿制的过程中,经常会修改原有形制的要素,如改用大宽脸或将较大胸像放在右侧,体现出拜占庭货币传入后与当地文化的结合。而这一传播、仿制、融合的过程是5—7世纪拜占庭钱币以及货币文化在丝路上传播与融合的共同特征。The fact that solidi of HeracliusⅠwere uncovered in China and Mongolia,and that their imitative gold coins and bracteates also appeared in China,Mongolia and Central Asia etc.,suggests that such kind of gold coins were spread and imitated largely.The spread to east of such solidi is the result of HeracliusⅠ’s sending big sum of gold coins to the Khan of Western Turk Khanate in order that they could attack the Persians when the emperor started his expedition to the Sassanian Persian Empire.When the pattern:two busts with left big and right small:of HeracliusⅠ’s solidi flowed into the east,the elements of such pattern were changed a bit during the imitating procedure,such as the broad face of figure and changing the big figure to right.Such changes indicate the integration of Byzantine monetary culture with the native culture.The whole process of the spread,imitation and integration of cultures,which the solidi of HeracliusⅠexperienced in the east,is a typical case,and the common characteristic of the Byzantine money and culture experienced along the Silk Road.
