This article summarizes the impact of environmental factors on the properties of microplastics, further discusses the adsorption behavior of microplastics on typical pollutants and the adsorption mechanism between microplastics and pollutants. The hydrophobicity and particle size of the microplastics are the main factors affecting the adsorption of the original plastic fragments, while for the aging microplastics, the increase in hydrogen bonding, hydrophilicity and specific surface area will affect the adsorption behavior. The influence of salinity and pH always affects the adsorption conditions by changing the charged state of microplastics and pollutants, thereby causing competitive adsorption. This is essential for evaluating the potential risks of microplastics to organisms from humans to the entire environment, and hopes to provide a theoretical basis for future research on the adsorption and enrichment behavior of microplastics on environmental pollutants.
