The total of 480 healthy yellow feather quails aged 70 days were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups. The control group was fed a basal diet,Exp.Ⅰ,Exp.Ⅱand Exp.Ⅲgroup were added 50 mg/kg,100 mg/kg,and 200 mg/kg antibacterial peptides on the basis of basic diet, respectively. The feeding period was 35 days. The results showed that compared with the control group,50 mg/kg,100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg antimicrobial peptides added into the diet had no significant effect on the average feed intake,Feed/egg ratio of quails(P>0.05).There was a tendency to increase the egg yield, with the increases of 0.93%,1.84%and 0.85%,respectively,but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).The thickness of eggshell was significantly increased by 3.37%,4.86%and 5.46%(P<0.05),and the improvement of yolk color was 2.31%,12.74%and 12.27%,respectively(P<0.05).Combined with cost and benefit,it was recommended to add 50-100 mg/kg antimicrobial peptides to quail diet.
