摘 要:白先勇小说中常常出现子嗣缺席的现象,女性的无后命运、同性恋者间虚构的父子或母女关系、父辈与子辈间文化上的断裂造成血缘子嗣的异化。探究白先勇小说中的子嗣缺席现象具有十分重要的意义,子嗣的缺席实际上是白先勇对台湾地区文化空间的感知,此地无希望、无未来。这种悲观意识源于他的自身经历与特殊身份:同性恋者、出国留学者,家族的“孽子”。无子的现实与母体文化的割裂均指向台湾地区的“明日”不可知性,其中暗含了白先勇对台湾地区孤岛空间与中华文化母体割裂的隐忧。In Pai Hsien-yung’s fiction, there is an absence of offspring as his women often don’t have children, the relationship between fathers and sons or mothers and daughters appears fictive, and the cultural rift between the fathers’ generation and their children’s generation lead to the alienation of their blood offspring. It is then of great importance to study this absence in his fiction as it actually is how he feels about the cultural space of Taiwan as a place of no hope and no future. Such a tragic sense originates from his own experience and special identity as a gay man, someone who studied overseas and an‘evil son’of the family.The child-less reality and the split from the mother culture point to the unknowableness of tomorrow, hidden in which is Pai’s concern for the lone-island space of Taiwan and the split from the mother culture of China.
