Reward system is a specific area of the brain that can produce pleasure and various motives, chronic pain will affect the reward effect by changing the release of neurotransmitters in the corresponding brain regions. The reward effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on chronic pain is that it can activate the brain neural reward system and promote the release of neurotransmitters in the corresponding brain regions. Therefore, this paper intends to take neurotransmitters as the target of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of chronic pain. By summarizing the relationship between chronic pain and reward system and the research progress on the impact of acupuncture and moxibustion on neurotransmitters, this paper discusses the reward effect of pain regulating neurotransmitters in the process of analgesia and the possible effect mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion in the reward system, so as to provide an advantageous treatment scheme for clinical treatment of chronic pain diseases.
