摘　　要：What is the role and place of statistics in modern artificial intelligence and machine learning?This paper surveys some currently fashionable topics in Artificial Intelligence(AI)and related fields,namely Machine Learning(ML).Moreover,it tries to outline how statisticians can contribute to AI.The paper reflects personal opinions and perspectives I gained working as a Chief Data Scientist in an international consulting firm that focuses on data analytics.
