摘  要:文章回顾了传播学主导范式产生的历史背景和围绕它而展开的争论,通过分析前人文献得出传播学批判学派与经验学派之间的对立和分野其实并非不可调和的结论。无论是处于传统的还是先进的媒介环境中,传播学研究具备批判性思考这种宽广的研究格局都是非常必要的;然而考虑到传播学当前的新技术背景,在新媒体语境下如若仅止步于单纯的批判性思考则会显得“后劲不足”。结合对传播学受众研究领域正在发生的范式转型的介绍,文章提出当前传播学应走出二元对立的局面,在面对一些特定的研究问题时应用新的分析技术,将思辨性研究与经验性研究进行纵向和横向的结合才是传播学研究未来的发展方向。This study reviewed the historical background of and the controversy surrounding the dominant paradigm of communication studies.Through the analysis of previous literature,it has been found that the opposition and distinction between the critical school and the empirical school of communication studies is not irreconcilable.Be it in the traditional or advanced media environment,it is necessary for communication studies to have a broad research pattern with critical thinking.However,against the current new technology background of communication studies,it will have“insufficient stamina”if it stops at mere critical thinking.In view of the paradigm transformation in the audience research within communication studies,this paper proposed that the current communication studies should step out of the situation of binary opposition,apply new analytical techniques when facing some specific research problems.The combination of critical and experiential research vertically and horizontally will be the future direction of communication studies.
