Employing the data from the China Comprehensive Social Survey(CGSS2015),this paper introduces the “skill specificity” of human capital theory into sociology, tries to provide a new interpretation framework explaining women′s fertility intentions, and examines the effect of “skill specificity” on women′s fertility intentions. The results of the study show that there is a direct and negative correlation between skill specification and women′s fertility intentions.Due to the low degree of transferability of female workers with specialized skills, they cannot bear the unemployment risk caused by childbearing. This female group will reduce their willingness to bear children.Further research has found a positive U-shaped relationship between women′s age and fertility intention. Finally, the results are proved valid through a series of robustness tests. It can be said that skill specificity is an important factor that affects women′s fertility intention.
