The existing studies pay more attention to the sound of bell in the poetry of the Tang Dynasty, but lack discussion on the writing of drumming. Drumming is a very important soundscape in the poetry of Tang, as well as a representative soundscape in the territory of Tang. It has different aesthetic feelings and cultural connotations in different spaces. In the national sacrificial space, Buddhist temples and Taoist temples, the drumming is sonorous and solemn, representing holiness and sublime;in the folk sacrifices, it is fast-paced and lively, showing the earthly delight besides mysteriousness. In the frontier and battlefield space, the drumming is the signal of war and the sign of the frontier, related with the thought of serving the country and searching personal achievement particularly in the Tang poetry. However, in the urban space, the drumming appears in festivals, banquets, elegies as musical sound, and also rings out through the palace, streets and markets as a signal of the hour;the drumming of early morning meeting is associated with the national dignity and personal official status and fame.
