Xuzhou began to engrave books in the Ming Dynasty and continued in the Qing Dynasty.Among them, local Chronicles were mainly engraved by the government, which played an important role in promoting their compilation and circulation. Most of the private works are anthologies of poetry, and several important writers engraved their works to spread. There were only sporadic records of books engraved by the bookstores, which reflected their weak commodity awareness.Although ancient book engraving in Xuzhou is less developed than that in Jiangnan,it plays an important role in promoting local book collection and reading culture, and is an indispensable organic component of ancient culture in Xuzhou.
