摘　　要：丁国瑞是近代天津地区的名医和社会活动家。作为回族精英和地方名医,学界虽已有不少研究,但未对他讨论甚多的中西医汇通问题给予关注,而且也未能从生命史学的视角去呈现其生命历程和精神世界。丁国瑞以传统文化和中医为本位,批判现实中的中医,学习和宣扬西医知识及相关机制,以实现以新守旧、以中化西之目的。通过对丁国瑞生命史和中西医汇通之道的研究,不仅可以在近代中西医汇通史为他上补上一笔,更重要的是,还可以从这一探究中获得中医知识史的启示:宜历史地且更具包容性地理解“汇通”概念;应立足中医疗效来寻求中医理论的根本性突破;要时刻注意把握中医的本质属性,充分理解其科学和文化的双重属性。Ding Guorui was a famous doctor and social activist active in Beijing and Tianjin of the modern era.As a Hui elite and a famous doctor,Ding Guorui has been the subject of numerous studies in the academia.Nevertheless,few studies,if any,have ever paid attention to his“integration philosophy of Chinese and western medicine,”a topic he talked a lot about.As a result,established studies failed to re-present his life experience and mental world.An open-minded person,Ding Guorui was enthusiastic about learning new knowledge.With a strong belief on traditional culture and the traditional Chinese medicine,he was critical of the traditional Chinese medicine as practiced in reality and keen to study and popularize the western medicine knowledge and relevant medical mechanisms.His ultimate purpose was to“keep the old by incorporating the new and sinify the medical knowledge from the west.”By studying the life history of Ding Guorui and his“integration philosophy,”we can shed light on his role in the history of exchanges between the Chinese and western medicine.More importantly,it will galvanize us to gain the following insights from the knowledge history of traditional Chinese medicine:we should take a historical and inclusive view to understand the“integration”concept;we should seek theoretic breakthrough in traditional Chinese medicine by focusing on its curative effects;and we should always keep in mind the essence of traditional Chinese medicine and fully understand both its scientific and cultural aspects.
